Flood warning: St. Marys River

The National Weather Service in northern Indiana has extended its flood warning for the St. Marys River. It released this statement Thursday afternoon:

THE FLOOD WARNING HAS BEEN EXTENDED FOR THE SAINT MARYS RIVER NEAR DECATUR * UNTIL TUESDAY AFTERNOON. * AT 12 PM THURSDAY THE STAGE WAS 19.4 FEET AND RISING. * MINOR FLOODING IS OCCURRING AND MODERATE FLOODING IS FORECAST. * FLOOD STAGE IS 17.0 FEET. * FORECAST...THE RIVER WILL RISE TO A CREST NEAR 20.7 FEET AROUND 8 PM FRIDAY APRIL 29 AND FALL BELOW FLOOD STAGE AROUND 12 PM MONDAY MAY 2. * AT 20.5 FEET...INDIANA 101 NORTH OF PLEASANT MILLS IS CLOSED BY FLOOD WATER. EXTENSIVE AGRICULTURAL FLOODING IS IN PROGRESS. RESIDENTS OF THE EAST AND SOUTHEAST SIDE OF DECATUR BECOME CONCERNED. * THIS CREST COMPARES TO A PREVIOUS CREST OF 21.0 FEET WHICH OCCURRED ON JAN 16 2007.
