Rymer Liriano went 4 for 5 with a home run and four RBI as the TinCaps topped West Michigan 13-7 Sunday.
The 13 runs are a season high.
Here are the highlights.
Key at-bat: Chris Tremblay singled to center with two outs in the third inning to bring home Chris Bisson. The single ended the TinCaps' 20-inning scoreless streak. It also sparked a four-run rally in the inning that keyed a comeback.
Key out: Keyvius Sampson got Dixon Machado to hit into an inning-ending double play in the top of the fourth. Fort Wayne scored five runs in the bottom of the inning to take the lead for good. Sampson improved to 4-1, giving up five runs (all in the first) on five hits. He struck out five.
Bad news: The TinCaps lost outfielder Everett Williams for the rest of the season, the San Diego Union Tribune reported, after he had surgery to repair a tear in the anterior cruciate ligament of his right knee. Williams collided with outfielder Donavan Tate in a game on April 12 at Bowling Green. Tate is expected to be out until around June 1, the Union Tribune reported.
Quotable
"We had a meeting today and talked about it's a new month, the past is the past, and stay consistent in what we're doing and what we're preaching and it will come around. I feel like we built off each other today and it came around for us."
