TinCaps fall in 11

Hernan Perez stole third and then scored when catcher Dan Killian's throw sailed away from third baseman Jake Blackwood, giving West Michigan the go-ahead run in a 4-3 victory in 11 innings Monday.

The Whitecaps (8-15) snapped a franchise-record 12 game losing streak. They had to withstand a Fort Wayne (9-16) rally which forced extra innings.

Here are the highlights.

Key at-bat: Fort Wayne's Jake Blackwood's two-out pinch hit single to right field brought home pinch runner Daniel Killian with the game-tying run in the ninth inning.

Key out(s): The TinCaps had other chances earlier in the game, but couldn't get the clutch hit. Down one run, Fort Wayne had runners on second and third with one out in the seventh. Chris Bisson and Chris Tremblay struck out to end the inning.

Extra, extra: Fort Wayne fell to 1-1 this year in extra-inning games.

"We did a lot of positive things out there, especially down 3-0 and battling back to tie things up. We left a lot of guys in scoring position, but that's how it goes."
