IHSAA meeting highlights

Three items came out of the IHSAA Board of Directors/Executive Committee meeting Monday that concern Fort Wayne.

First, the IHSAA board discussed the girls basketball state finals, which have been in Fort Wayne the last two years.

The board gave the indication that again no venue in Indianapolis will be available for March 3, 2012, so the board agreed to request bids from interested parties.

A site selection will be announced this summer, usually the week after the baseball state finals.

Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne looks to again be in the bidding process.

Second, Concordia principal John Marks was voted as the Board President for 2011-12.

Third, gymnastics (in which Fort Wayne has some elite teams) was reviewed and was unanimously approved to continue as a sponsored sport.
