Keys to the game

The TinCaps scored a season-high seven runs in the sixth inning and went on to beat Lansing 12-4 in front of 4,646 fans Thursday at Parkview Field.

Tommy Medica and Jake Blackwood both had three hits for Fort Wayne. Two of Blackwood's hits came in the sixth inning.

Here are some of the highlights.

Key at-bat: There were plenty to choose from in the sixth inning, but Chris Bisson's two-out two run single extended Fort Wayne's lead to 8-4. The TinCaps would tack on two more in the inning to build a comfortable lead.

Key out: Matt Jackson settled in after allowing a home run to Jake Marisnick to lead off the sixth. He struck out the next batter, K.C. Hobson, one of seven strikeouts for Jackson in four relief innings. Jackson retired the last 12 batters of the game.

Quotable

"The first couple of innings the nerves were going a little bit, but after that it felt like I had been back there. It was nice."

- Tommy Medica, who started at catcher for the first time in two years
