Keys to the game

The TinCaps used strong pitching to defeat Lansing 2-0 in front of 6,154 fans Friday at Parkview Field.

Four Fort Wayne pitchers limited the Lugnuts to four hits.

Here are the highlights.

Key at-bat: Chris Bisson got hit with a pitch with the bases loaded, bringing home Tommy Medica with Fort Wayne's first run in the third inning. The TinCaps scored both of their runs in the inning.

Key out(s): Reliever Chris Franklin got K.C. Hobson to hit into an inning-ending double play in the sixth. Franklin entered the game with runners on first and second and no outs. He got a pop out and then the double play to work out of trouble.

Punch outs: Fort Wayne pitchers struck out 12 Lansing batters. Starter Keyvius Sampson struck out eight batters in five innings to improve to 5-1. Yefri Carvajal struck out two batters in the eighth. Adam Dominick struck out two more batters in the ninth for his fifth save.

Quotable

"Keyvius had thrown a great game. You come into that situation with runners on base, you just want to get out of the inning with as little damage as possible. I just tried to get a ground ball double play. Luckily the first guy popped up so it made it a little easier."
