I'm not sure how many bills Gov. Mitch Daniels has kissed – yes, kissed – after signing them, but he did just that after signing House Bill 1003 on Thursday. Watch the video here, proudly posted on the governor's web site.
The kiss comes at the very end, just before he hands the pen off to Robert Enlow, president of the Foundation for Educational Choice, the pro-voucher group founded by the late economist, Milton Friedman and his wife Rose.
At the ceremony, there was lots of back-slapping and applause for the courage it took to pass the legislation. No mention of the millions in campaign contributions behind it, however. More on that later.
