Notre Dame and Stanford will continue to play through the 2019 season, Cardinal athletic director Bob Bowlsby announced Thursday.
The Irish and Cardinal are already scheduled to play this season on Nov. 26 at Stanford Stadium, and the two programs will continue the home-and-home series for the next eight years.
"We are very excited to be extending our football series with the University of Notre Dame," Bowlsby said on the school's website. "We have enjoyed a long history of great competition and we are pleased to continue the spirited rivalry between our two universities."
Notre Dame and Stanford have played 25 times, with the Irish holding a 17-8 edge. The two programs have played each other for the last 14 seasons and 21 out of 23 seasons since 1988.
The Cardinal have won the last two games.
