And Another Thing

And the field is set

INDIANAPOLIS -- So what do we know now, with the field of 33 set for next Sunday's Indianapolis 500?

1. We know God is a woman, or at least a savvy marketing director. The driver who most moves the needle in IndyCar, Danica Patrick, looked like a goner at mid-afternoon when rain moved in and the radar indicated a whole lot of green and red to the west. Somehow, though, the worst of it slid south, the sun came out, and Patrick stuck her ride in the show with a solid 224.639 run.

2. If Michael Andretti lost two of his five cars on Sunday, at least the most marketable three got in: Danica, John Andretti and Marco, who was bumped by Alex Lloyd with five minutes to go, then bumped his way back in, rolling out of the qualifying line with less than a minute to go before the day ended.

3. No one really knows what's going to happen Sunday. Seriously.

"I don't know if anyone's got it figured out," Patrick said. "All of us, at times, have felt like we have it figured out, and, at times, we feel completely lost.

"To be honest, you might be able to go up and down pit lane and find a lot of people like that."
