Shooter's Comments: Well, I learned a few things while shooting flooding in Waynedale. I need to invest in some waders, since I was almost waist high in water. It grossed me out a bit.
Dan Stockman, metro reporter, and I headed to Waynedale where a neighborhood was flooded. How horrible to see these homes, I can't imagine the water damage. It was interesting walking around talking with neighbors. I took a lot of photos.
It can be hard sometimes showing an overview of the destruction because of the possibilities of how it will run in the paper. I always want people in my photos, especially after awhile just shooting water and houses is boring. To give you an idea of how high the water was, here is a shot of Dan Stockman in his waders which failed because they sprung a leak. Good times! It's assignments like these that make my job interesting every day and make me more prepared for next time.
