Something a buddy of mine pointed out the other day, as Vancouver prepares to take on the Bruins in the Stanley Cup finals:

* In 1976, the Summer Olympics were staged in Montreal. The next year, the Canadiens won the Stanley Cup.

* In 1988, Calgary played host to the Winter Games. The next year, the Calgary Flames won the Stanley Cup.

* In 2010, Vancouver played host to the Winter Games. In 2011 ...

Well. It's Vancouver vs. Boston in the Stanley Cup finals.
