Drug sweep in region nets 20

The DETECT Drug Task Force of Adams and Wells counties swept through the region early Wednesday, serving warrants on 20 suspects.

The task force, which includes the Bluffton and Decatur police departments and the Adams and Wells sheriff’s departments, conducted a nine-month undercover investigation, according to a written statement from the Bluffton department.

It said the following people were served with warrants:

  • Sterling H. Armstrong, 19, of Bluffton, on three felony charges of dealing marijuana.
  • Jeffrey L. Bays Jr., 21, of Bluffton, on two felony charges of dealing marijuana, one misdemeanor charge of dealing marijuana and one felony charge of dealing a controlled substance.
  • Benjamin J. Davis, 19, at the Wells County Jail, on one felony count of dealing a controlled substance and two misdemeanor charges of selling marijuana.
  • Trenton L. Eckelbarger, 18, of Bluffton, of one felony charge and two misdemeanor charges of dealing in marijuana.
  • Trevor L. Eckelbarger, 19, at the Wells County Jail, on one felony count of dealing a controlled substance and a misdemeanor charge of dealing marijuana.
  • Dillon L. Geninatti, 18, at the Wells County Jail, on one felony count of dealing a controlled substance.
  • Roderick V. Green, 26, of Fort Wayne, on one count of dealing cocaine and one of dealing a controlled substance.
  • Christopher M. Hayden, 26, of Bluffton, on two counts of dealing a controlled substance.
  • Troy A. Hultz, 49, at the Wells County Jail, on one count of dealing a controlled substance and one of selling a legend (prescription) drug.
  • Jason B. Long, 21, of Ossian, on two counts of dealing a controlled substance.
  • April Mahon, 38, of Bluffton, on two charges of dealing in cocaine.
  • Zachary R. Monnot, 22, of Ossian, on one felony charge of dealing marijuana.
  • Bruce A. Murray Jr., 22, of Ossian, on two counts of dealing a controlled substance.
  • Robert N. Parker II, 52, of Berne, on three counts of dealing a controlled substance.
  • Nicholas A. Shady, 18, of Bluffton, on two felony charges of dealing marijuana.
  • John L. Shaw, 34, of Decatur, on two counts of dealing a controlled substance.
  • Robert S. Sowder, 25, at the Westville Correctional Facility, on one count of dealing a controlled substance and one of selling a legend drug.
  • William C.M. Stanley, 22, of Bluffton, on one felony charge of selling a legend drug and a misdemeanor charge of dealing in marijuana.
  • An unidentified Bluffton girl, 17, on two juvenile counts of dealing a controlled substance.
  • A 19-year-old Bluffton man, on two misdemeanor counts of dealing marijuana. The Journal Gazette does not normally name those accused of charges that include only misdemeanors.
The Bluffton department said three people remained at large. The task force was assisted by Indiana State Police, the U.S. Marshal’s Service, Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Wells County Probation and the Wells County Prosecutor’s Office.
