Keys to the game

Mark Hardy threw six shutout innings as the TinCaps topped Kane County 7-1 in front of 6,296 fans Sunday at Parkview Field.

Fort Wayne collected 14 hits while limiting the Cougars to four.

Here are the highlights.

Key at-bat: Emmanuel Quiles singled in the first run during a three-run fourth inning. Quiles attempted to bunt twice before getting the sign to swing away.

Key out(s): Hardy wasn't in many jams. Kane County's leadoff batter reached in the top of the fourth. Hardy then got Jake Kuebler to hit into a double play.

Quotable

"Dating back to three weeks we've been pretty good on all aspects of the game. Our hitting has come a long way from the beginning of the year. It's nice when we can put up some numbers (like Sunday)."

- TinCaps manager Shawn Wooten on the 14-hit attack
