State gets $500,000 to help veterans find jobs

INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana is receiving a half-million dollars to help veterans find jobs.

The $500,000 grant to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development was one of 22 grants totaling $9 million around the nation announced this past week by the U.S. Department of Labor.

The Labor Department says the grants are part of the Veterans Workforce Investment Program. The program emphasizes training for veterans who are interested in so-called "green" jobs connected with renewable energy, energy efficiency and clean vehicles.

Indiana is in the third year of its veterans' jobs program.
