The Fort Wayne country station was stuffing a bus full of food and supplies for families in need in Joplin, Mo, and SPCA staffer Mistyna Reiter asked if there was a way the shelter could help.
Sofia Rodriguez Mirwaldt said the SPCA called the station to offer pet food if there was room. Sixteen hundred pounds of pet food and supplies found their way onto the truck.
