Today while trying to work in the garden I had to spray myself with mosquito repellent. The mosquitoes were as bad as the scorching sun.
I didn't know whether to spray first and then apply sun protection lotion or apply the lotion and then spray.
How could the mosquitoes be so bad when my plants were withering in the sun from lack of water?
I took a look at the drainage ditch across the street, but all of the water had drained out and it was now dry.
I then got out the ladder and started checking out my gutters. They were all dry except for one. I had cleaned out all the gutters last fall, but one of the strainers I installed to keep debris out of the downspout was clogged. The backed up water was a perfect place to breed mosquitoes.
I have bats in my yard to feed, but I am fairly sure that there are enough insects without my help.
