The festival season has officially begun in northeast Indiana. If you are looking for something to do this weekend and throughout the month of June, check out some of these upcoming festivals:

Germanfest – A celebration of German heritage featuring food, music, dancing, stein races, wiener dog races; 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. today and Saturday; Headwaters Park; $2 admission from 2 to 5 p.m. and $5 after 5 p.m.; ends Sunday;

New Haven Canal Days – Celebration in downtown New Haven, Broadway through Schnelker Park; rides, food, entertainment; hours vary and there is a cost for some events; ends Saturday;

North Webster Mermaid Festival – Wednesday through June 18; North Webster; music food, pageants; hours vary.

Huntington County Heritage Days – Huntington; parade, marketplace, car show, entertainment; hours vary;

Hoagland Days – Annual festival in Hoagland; Thursday through June 18; demolition derby, carnival rides, parade; hours vary;

BBQ RibFest – Celebration of barbecue ribs and blues music; Thursday through June 19; hours vary; free admission until 5:30 p.m.;

Greek Festival – Enjoy Greek cuisine, entertainment and dancing; 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. June 23 through 25 and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 26; Headwaters Park; free until after 4 p.m. ($3 admission for ages 16 and older) and free all day Sunday;

IPFW Riverfest – Celebrates city’s rivers with music, art, family, boat show and food along the St. Joseph River on the IPFW campus; 9 a.m. to midnight June 25; free;

Indiana Highland Games & Scottish Festival – Scottish food, drinks, activities and strength competitions; 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. June 25; Whitley County 4-H Fairgrounds, Columbia City; free;
