Tecumseh beats Lakewood Park for title

Lakewood Park's potent offense was kept in check in the most important game of the season.

The Panthers managed only four hits in the finale -- a 5-1 loss to Tecumseh in the Class A state championship game Saturday at Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis.

No. 3 Lakewood entered the game hitting .385 as a team, but it couldn't get going against Tecumseh freshman Tiffany Summers.

Purdue-bound senior Alyssa Koorsen had two hits, but Lakewood got only three other runners on base.

The Panthers' run in the sixth came when Annie Weaver led off the inning with a double, moved to third on Koorsen's hard hit grounder back to the mound and scored when Tecumseh's left fielder dropped a fly ball.
