Once again, the Quad City Mallards have skirted death.
The team will play in the CHL for a second straight season after a new ownership group was found Friday -- its fourth in as many years.
Prometheus Capital Partners, LLC, and Club 9 sports, a group that almost bought the Mallards a year ago, took over the Moline, Ill.-based franchise that was shut down buy Eric Karls on May 11, the Quad City Times and the Dispatch-Argus reported. W
ith Colorado and Odessa moving leagues, and champion Bossier-Shreveport suspending operations, the CHL will likely have 15 teams next season, including the Komets.
