Statement issued Thursday:
Verizon Wireless launches the world’s first large-scale 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network in Fort Wayne today (Thursday, June 16). The new network offers speeds 10 times faster than what is currently available in Indiana for residential and business customers. In Fort Wayne, the new network covers most of the city’s population. 4G from Verizon Wireless is also in place at specific locations across the state, including the Indianapolis International Airport, Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Purdue University. Other cities updated include Indianapolis, Lafayette and West Lafayette. A variety of new smartphones, tablets, hotspots and notebooks are also available to tap the blazing fast speeds. Fort Wayne joins 74 markets nationwide that now have 4G LTE service.
