David Vidal went 3 for 4 with two home runs and seven RBI for Dayton in a 14-4 victory against Fort Wayne in front of 8,362 fans Thursday at Parkview Field.
Fort Wayne manager Shawn Wooten was ejected by first base umpire Mike Terry after an argument before the bottom of the fourth.
Here are some other highlights.
Key at-bat: Dayton's Donald Lutz hit a grounder that was heading up the middle in the first inning. Second baseman Chris Bisson made a nice stop, jumped and fired to first. First base umpire Mike Terry ruled Lutz was safe, saying the ball was bobbled. As first baseman Connor Powers argued the call, Dominic D'Anna scored from second. Instead of the third out, the TinCaps trailed 2-0. Vidal followed with a two-run home run.
Key out(s): The game was well out of hand, but TinCaps backup catcher Cole Tyrell provided a little relief by striking out two of the three batters he faced in the ninth.
Still streaking: TinCaps outfielder Rymer Liriano did not play. His hit streak remains at 18 games.
"Something happened in the game that I'll keep private and that ultimately led to the ejection."
