Hey, I love Jimmer Fredette as much as the next guy. I just don't think the guy's got much of a future as an NBA player.
Which is not to say he'll have no future, understand.
Most of the draftniks think he'll go anywhere from 12th up tonight, which seems about right in a draft shallower than a Kardashian's brainpan. It also seems about right he'll be no more than a situational player in the NBA, the guy you bring in when defenses sag inside and open up the 3-point line.
Aside from that, forget it. I look at Jimmer, I see Damon Bailey with a better jump shot: a smart, heady player who can score but can't guard anyone -- Jimmer didn't guard anyone in the Mountain West, and that's a loooong hike from the NBA -- and who seems destined, like a lot of undersized combo college guards, to be slotted in as a point guard.
That's what happened to Bailey, and, to his credit, he worked hard enough at it that he actually became a pretty decent one -- at least at the CBA level. Fredette's a better scorer, so he'll probably stick with whoever drafts him. But stick's about all he'll do.
So says the Blob, anyway.
