Bishop Luers senior quarterback James Knapke orally committed to Bowling Green on Sunday.
Knapke has led the Knights to the last two Class 2A state football championships.
Knapke informed the Falcon coaches Sunday he wanted to join the program.
“I am very excited and honored to be a part of such a great university and football program,” Knapke said. “My family had a great talk with Coach Clawson and Coach Ruggiero and I told them that I wanted to be a Falcon, and they started jumping and hugging. It was a great exper-ence and am looking forward to being a Falcon next year.”
The 6-foot-3, 185-pounder threw for 2,230 yards with 30 touchdowns and nine interceptions last season.
Knapke’s teammate, junior running back/linebacker Jaylon Smith, said he has received scholarship offers from Purdue, Mississippi State and Ohio State.
Smith’s older brother, Rod, is a sophomore at Ohio State.
