Blackwood moved to Lake Elsinore

Just two weeks ago, San Diego director of player development Randy Smith indicated Jake Blackwood wouldn't be around for long in the second half.

"He's ready and has earned a promotion that hopefully we can get to at some point in the next few weeks," Smith said.

The promotion came Monday.

San Diego moved Blackwood, the most consistent hitter in Fort Wayne's lineup for the first half, to its advanced A team in Lake Elsinore, Calif., Monday. The third baseman, a starter in the Midwest League All-Star Game, had a .284 average for the TinCaps. He led the team in home runs (nine) and RBI (43).

The TinCaps added catcher Jhonaldo Pozo and pitcher Stiven Osuna to the roster. Pozo joins from Lake Elsinore. Osuna, who has pitched for the TinCaps in parts of 2009 and 2010, joins from extended spring training.
