Komets add three to preseason roster

Schrock, Cescon returning

The Komets announced Thursday that three players have been added to the 2011-12 preseason roster. Returning from last season are winger Lincoln Kaleigh Schrock and defenseman Craig Cescon. Also added to the fold is center Chris Auger.

Schrock, 26, has agreed to terms and will be skating his third season with the Komets. The Fort Wayne native has appeared in 136 Komet regular season games over the past two campaigns netting 35 goals and 56 points while accumulating 310 penalty minutes. Schrock was a member of the 2009 NCAA Division III champion Neumann college before taking the IHL Turner Cup Championship in his pro debut with the 2009-10 Komets. Schrock was named the Komets' "Rookie of the Year" for 2009-10 and has been honored with the Komets' "Mr. Hustle Award" each of the last two seasons.

Cescon, 24, will be entering his second consecutive season with Fort Wayne and fifth year as a pro. Cescon was named the Komets' "Unsung Hero" for 2010-11 after leading with 174 penalty minutes. He also led Flint in 2009-10 with 195 minutes. Cescon began his career skating with Idaho of the ECHL 2007-08 and 2008-09 before his stint with Flint.

Auger, 22, made his pro debut last year with Mississippi in the CHL scoring 14 goals and 25 points in 42 games. The center was a member of the University of Massachusetts-Lowell RiverHawks of Hockey East from 2006-2010. Prior to his college career, Auger was selected by Chicago in round six of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

With the addition of Schrock, Cescon and Auger the Komets' preseason roster reaches seven players.

The Komets will skate two exhibition games prior to the opening of the 2011-12 regular season. Both tune-ups will be against the Dayton Gems with the first preseason tilt scheduled for Friday, Oct. 14 at Hara Arena in Dayton at 7:30 p.m. The Komets will reciprocate by hosting Dayton Sunday, Oct. 16 at 5 p.m. at Memorial Coliseum. The Komets' 60th anniversary season home opener will be Saturday, Oct. 22 with the opponent yet to be determined.
