The nation’s largest public genealogy center has teamed up with the world’s largest online genealogy company to offer a one-day genealogy workshop in downtown Fort Wayne.

The Genealogy Center, located on the second floor of the Allen County Public Library, will join with to host Fort Wayne Ancestry Day on Saturday.

More than 700 have registered for the event, said Genealogy Center staffer Melissa Shimkus.

Convention attendees will attend workshops and classes at the Grand Wayne Center and will have full access to the library center’s resources, Shimkus said.

“Our professional staff has over 200 years’ experience in the field of genealogy,” Shimkus said, “and we’re very excited to offer that experience to the visitors who will be attending this convention.”
