Yep, they're still in first

I woke up this morning and my Pittsburgh Pirates, aka the Farm Team To The Stars, were seven games over .500 and leading the National League Central by a full game.

I assume, since the Earth has not yet been inundated with a plague of toads or reduced to a flaming ruin by celestial lightning from a vengeful God, that this means A) I did actually wake up, and B) God must be OK with this.

Fine. So am I, even though, after 18 years of nothingness, I still reserve the right to think it's all going to come crashing down any second now. I picture a ruinous 12-game losing streak, followed by a ruinous seven-game losing streak.

I also reserve the right not to believe Pirates president Frank Coonelly when he says the club would consider adding players to bolster the lineup before the trade deadline.

Yeeaaaah. We'll see.
