Keys to the game

Four Fort Wayne pitchers combined on a three-hit shutout as the TinCaps beat Cedar Rapids 3-0 in front of 5,177 fans Thursday at Parkview Field.

Adys Portillo gave up the three hits in 5 2/3 innings. he struck out seven to improve to 2-9.

Here are the highlights.

Key at-bat: Fort Wayne's Emmanuel Quiles chopped a slow grounder to third base in the second inning. Jarrod Parks fired home, but Luis Domoromo beat the throw to score the first run of the game. Domoromo had two hits, scored twice and drove in the other run.

Key out: Portillo struck out Jean Almanzar with a runner at third to end the fifth inning. That out made Portillo eligible for his second victory.

Spangenberg watch: Cory Spangenberg, the No. 10 overall pick in this year's draft, went 0 for 2 with two walks for the TinCaps.
