Bell appointed to NCAA committee

IPFW Director of Athletics Tommy Bell has been appointed to the NCAA D-I Amateurism Cabinet.

The Amateurism Cabinet is responsible for all pre- and post-enrollment amateurism issues, including oversight of issues pertaining to the NCAA Eligibility Center, student-athlete likeness issues, and the relationship between college and professional athletes. The Amateurism Cabinet reports to the Division I Leadership Council on policy issues and the Division I Legislative Council on legislative issues. The Amateurism Fact-Finding Body reports to this cabinet.

"I'm honored to be able to serve the NCAA and its student-athletes, while representing The Summit League on this important committee," Bell said of his appointment. "Now more than ever, with the constantly changing landscape of college athletics, it is vital to stay updated on all potential issues related to student-athlete amateurism."

Bell began his tenure on the NCAA Committee earlier this month and will serve until July, 2015.
