Keys to the game

Wes Cunningham knocked in Cory Spangenberg with a single to left with two outs in the ninth, lifting the TinCaps to an 8-7 victory against Quad Cities.

Cunningham had three hits and six RBI for Fort Wayne in front of 6,338 fans Saturday at Parkview Field.

Here are the highlights.

Key at-bat: Cunningham lined the first pitch he saw to left field. Spangenberg raced from second and scored ahead of Chris Edmondson's throw, giving the TinCaps their ninth win in 11 games.

Key out(s): More of a nod to Fort Wayne's bullpen. Relievers Robert Lara, Deiber Sanchez and Adam Dominick combined to give up one run in the final 5 2/3 innings. Sanchez struck out Edmondson with a runner on third to end the sixth inning and keep the game tied at 7.

Cory watch: The No. 10 overall pick in this year's draft had three hits and scored three times. He singled leading off the ninth, starting the game-winning rally.

"I've been seeing the ball well the past few games. I came in tonight, had a rough first at-bat. The second at-bat, I started to calm myself down. I was able to recognize pitches. Luckily the pitchers made a few mistakes and I was able to capitalize on them."
