Limberlost offers ‘Porter, Pets and Poetry’

Statement issued by Limberlost State Historic Site:

Geneva, Ind. – Bring your pets to Limberlost State Historic Site on Saturday, Aug. 20, from 1 to 3 p.m., for an afternoon of contests and fun. There will be an obstacle course for dogs, a best dressed contest and a best trick contest for all pets. Guests can also get their photo taken with their four-legged family member.

Jay County Animal shelter will have some its animals up for adoption along with more information about some of the other animals they have ready to go to a forever home.

Pet owners can learn about Gene’s wildlife photography, watch a nature slide show and take a guided tour of the Limberlost Cabin. All of which will be included in the price of admission to this event. Even though no pets are allowed inside the Cabin, “pet-sitters” will be provided for anyone wanting to take the tour.

Refreshments will also be provided for you and your pet. Contest winners will be announced at 3 p.m. and all decisions by the judges are final. So bring your dog, cat, bird or whatever to Limberlost State Historic Site and enjoy the pet-friendly atmosphere on Aug. 20.

Admission is $2 per person. Proceeds will be shared with Jay County Animal Shelter. All animals must be on a leash or in a cage. Pets that don’t do well in social situations should be left at home.
