The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is warning parents to stop using Child Safe safety latches and electrical outlet covers imported by Prime-Line Products Company Inc.
The commission and the company have recalled 37,000 packages of drawer and cabinet latches and covers for outlets that were sold at Ace Hardware, Bostwic-Braun, Cal-Do-It Centers, Do-It-Best, Friedman Brothers, Menards, Orgill, The Andersons Inc. and True Value stores nationwide until June 11.
The recall said the screws on the safety latches and outlet covers can break, possibly giving children access to electrical outlets and other potentially hazardous items.
The company has received four reports of screws breaking. No injuries have been reported.
- The drawer and cabinet latches were sold three per package, in model number S 4439 with SKU 049793044396, and model number S 4444 with SKU 049793044440.
- The outlet covers were sold one per package, in ivory, model number S 4447 with SKU 049793044471, and white, model number S 4461 with SKU 049793044617.
If you or your child has been injured, you are asked to report it at www.saferproducts.gov, 800-638-2772 or teletypewriter at 800-638-8270 for the hearing impaired.
