Fisher-Price ‘Little People’ wagons recalled

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is warning parents that several children have been injured by Little People Builders’ Load ‘n Go Wagons.

The commission and Fisher-Price on Thursday announced a voluntary recall of more than 210,800 wagons in the United States and Canada

The recall notice said the back of the wagons’ plastic handle has molded-in reinforcement that can cut a child who falls on it. Seven injuries have been reported, including five that required stitches or surgical glue.

Model No. P8977 includes a red wagon with a yellow handle, plastic blocks and a dog figure. Wagons with green handles are not included in the recall.

The wagons were sold nationwide between June 2009 and July 2011 for about $25, the recall said.

Parents are urged to immediately take any recalled wagons away from children and contact Fisher-Price for instructions on how to obtain a free repair kit. The company can be reached at 800-432-5437 and at www.service.mattel.com.

If your child has been injured, you are asked to report it at www.saferproducts.gov, 800-638-2772 or teletypewriter at 800-638-8270 for the hearing impaired.
