Great Lakes scored five times in the eighth inning on the way to a 9-2 victory against the TinCaps in front of 5,389 fans Monday at Parkview Field.
Here are the highlights.
Key at-bat: Michael Pericht singled on a 1-2 pitch, bringing home Nick Akins to increase the Loons' lead to 4-2. It was the first of five runs in the eighth for Great Lakes.
Key out: Down a run in the fifth inning, B.J. Guinn appeared to reach on a one-out bunt single. But home plate umpire John Silva ruled Guinn was out of the batter's box when the bat made contact with the ball and called Guinn out. Rymer Liriano followed with a triple, one of three hits for the right fielder, but was stranded there as Luis Domoromo struck out to end the inning.
"… B.J. has bunted at least 25 times. You sit there and wonder, is (the umpire) seeing something everybody else isn't?"
