Kayla Drake, the 5-foot-5 guard who averaged 10.8 points per game for IPFW's women's basketball team last season, is transferring to Saint Francis.
Drake, who had attended Eastern Kentucky University prior to coming to IPFW, started in 16 games with the Mastodons.
Her most memorable game came at South Dakota State, where she scored 27 points and had 10 steals.
How this will affect IPFW (and, consequently, Saint Francis) remains to be seen. IPFW lost its best two guards via graduation in Jordan Zuppe and Chelsey Jackson, and Drake was expected to step in as one of the players who could penetrate and provide quickness.
The departure of Drake is the second high-profile IPFW player to bolt from the program within a year. Earlier, former South Side standout and center Sydney Weinert announced that she was leaving IPFW to attend the University of Indianapolis.
