So for the first two innings, TinCaps pitcher Zach Cates was zipping through the Bowling Green lineup. Of the six outs recorded, five were via strikeout. But starting off the top of the third inning, Bowling Green's Kevin Kiermaier, the Bishop Luers graduate who helped the Knights to the Class 2A state championship, launched a 1-0 pitch over the right field fence to spoil Cates' no-hit bid as well as shutout. Just as Cates started off with a load of strikeouts, his Bowling Green counterpart, left-hander Enny Romero, has been better. Through three innings, Romero has seven strikeouts, and struck out the side in both the second and third innings. End of three ... 1-0 Bowling Green.
