Making a transition

Patrick Bade appeared in 58 games for the Purdue basketball team. Now he's trying to catch on, and passes, as a tight end with the football team.

"He has some upside," Purdue coach Danny Hope said of the 6-foot-5, 227-pound Bade. "He has a big body. He moves around well in space. I think he can develop the techniques and skills to play tight end on our football team. We're encouraged about him. He's getting better.

"I just want to see him go out there, get after it and have a good time."

Bade played tight end in high school at Franklin Central.
