For the second straight year, the CHL's Bloomington, Ill., franchise is scrambling to a find a coach late in the summer.
Jason Christie has left the team to coach the ECHL's Ontario Reign. Christie was the CHL's Coach of the Year last season after leading the PrairieThunder to its first playoff berth, though it lost to the Komets in the first round and then saw a transfer of ownership and a change in name, to the Blaze.
In August, 2010, Jarrod Skalde bolted from Bloomington to coach Cincinnati of the ECHL.
I can't say I blame Christie; things have been a mess in Bloomington for years. It should be a solid market, but they just can't seem to get it right. Now he'll coach in a Reign team affiliated with the Los Angeles Kings.
As Greg Rajan mentioned, don't you have to feel bad for the players who signed on to play for Christie?
I know who I would take a long, hard look at if I were Bloomington: Click here.
