TinCaps announce 2012 slate

– There’s nearly two weeks remaining in Fort Wayne’s 2011 regular season, but the TinCaps already have an eye on 2012 with Thursday’s release of the 2012 schedule.

“Conventions, they’re always asking if you’re home at this time. Some other people are asking us. We feel there’s every advantage to get it out as quickly as possible,” team president Mike Nutter said.

“From the non-baseball standpoint, we have a binder filled with request for wedding receptions and class reunions on non-game day stuff. If you’re a bride and groom getting married next July, they want to hear if we’re at home on a certain date.”

Season tickets, group outing areas, as well as all individual ticket prices will remain the same for 2012.

Fort Wayne will be home for the season opener April 5 against Lake County.

“We’re excited to get it started right away at home on a Thursday night with a fireworks show,” Nutter said.

It is one of a team-record 27 fireworks nights. That includes six on Thursday and another one on a Tuesday (Aug. 7). Weekend fireworks start May 19.

“Three of the four biggest days that we’ve had here at (Parkview Field) are Thursday night fireworks because we combine the fireworks with the Thirsty Thursday promotion,” Nutter said. “The fans love them both.

“… We’re trying to maximize ourselves to continue to grow.”

Fort Wayne has a seven-game homestand scheduled for May 9-15 and another set for Aug. 4-10. June and July each has two six-game homestands.

The TinCaps also have home games on Memorial Day and Independence Day (both against Bowling Green).

“The schedule really shakes up well,” Nutter said. “We love being home on July 4. We’re home on Memorial Day, which we like. There’s a lot of the holidays mixed in like that that we’re happy about.”

The All-Star Game is June 19 in Geneva, Ill., home of the Kane County Cougars.

The home schedule concludes with three games against West Michigan (Aug. 29-31).

Season-ticket packages for 2012 are now available, with existing season-ticket holders having a priority period to renew and reserve their same seat locations for 2012. For more information, call 482-6400.
