New York Yankees' Nick Swisher celebrates a home run against the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday.

This is why every American with a soul hates the New York Yankees.

The sense of entitlement. The it's-all-about-us mentality. The pouting when things don't go their way.

It was all right there, in full disgusting glory, in their whining about the Orioles setting a makeup date for Sept. 8 for the games washed out by Hurricane Irene,. Apparently the Yankees were miffed because the makeup date was one of only two scheduled days off they had for September.

Altogether now, from those of us who rarely know such a thing as a true day off: Waaah.

"Are we really still talking about this? We've just seen a hurricane come through this region which has caused millions to be without power, tens of millions of dollars in property damage and even several deaths," Orioles director of communications Greg Bader wrote in an email Sunday to ESPNNewYork.com. "We've got people out there literally trying to put their lives back together and yet there are some still worrying about a rescheduled game time?

"We will be playing the game on September 8. We will be selecting a game time and will announce it shortly. It is time to move on to more pressing matters."
