A few tidbits from the first two weeks of the football season:
ACAC getting points
The ACAC has four teams averaging 40 or more points per game. Adams Central and Garrett are both scoring 47, South Adams 44.5 and Leo 42.
No other area conference has more than two. Homestead (54) and North Side (40.5) represent the lone ones in the NHC and SAC. In the NECC, it's Lakeland (51.5) and Churubusco (47).
Waiting for conference openers
Wayne has yet to play an SAC game this year. Because of the quirks of the SAC schedule with the closings of Elmhurst and Harding in the last two years, the Generals (0-2) have played non-conference games against Indianapolis Tech and South Bend Riley.
Wayne hasn't opened up against two non SAC/city teams since the Generals did it from 1977 to 1982.
Garrett is in a similar situation because it won't have its ACAC opener until next week, having played non-conference teams Eastside, DeKalb and West Noble (on Friday) for its first three games of 2011.
Frickey is on a roll
Garrett senior running back Todd Frickey has 11 touchdowns in the first two weeks of the season.
That means Frickey is averaging 33 points per game. The No. 50 scoring "team" in the entire state is averaging 37 points per game.
