Eyeing IU

Closing in on kickoff

Indiana opens the season against Ball State. The contest is at Lucas Oil Stadium. It’s Indiana’s first game in Indianapolis since Oct. 28, 2000 against Penn State at the RCA Dome.

Edward Wright-Baker or Dusty Kiel will get the start at quarterback. The key for either, as IU coach Kevin Wilson has pointed out, is to take care of the ball. It will help that the quarterbacks have a talented group of receivers to throw to, led by North Side’s Damarlo Belcher.

The running backs are also inexperienced. Matt Perez will get the start. He missed all last season because of a knee injury.

Defensively, it will be interesting to see how much the Hoosiers come with pressure. IU had just 15 sacks last season.
