For starters

With a spot in the playoffs on the line, Fort Wayne will go to ace Keyvius Sampson for the final game with West Michigan.

The TinCaps and Whitecaps are tied for the Eastern Division’s final playoff spot. The winner of today’s game will face Bowling Green in the opening round of the playoffs.

Sampson is 11-3 with a 2.97 ERA. He lasted just 2 1/3 innings on Wednesday, allowing six runs on four hits in a 9-8 loss against South Bend.

The only benefit from the short outing is that it gave him plenty of time to rest to be ready just in case for Monday. And so here it is.

Alex Burgos will start for West Michigan. He is 6-4 with a 2.05 ERA.
