Michigan State pulled off one of the most stunning endings to a game last season, and it came at Notre Dame's expense.
The Spartans shocked the Irish with a fake field goal in overtime to score a 34-31 victory in Spartan Stadium.
Two of Notre Dame's prominent players, receiver Michael Floyd and safety Harrison Smith, are taking different approaches when it comes to the memory entering Saturday's home game against Michigan State.
"You never want a game to end like that," Floyd said during a news conference Wednesday. "… We want to get revenge. We know this is a big rivalry game, and we know it is a game we can get back on our feet."
Smith's approach comes in part because of the position he plays.
"I play DB, so we have a short memory. We don't remember anything," Smith said. "We're not thinking in the past. When that happened, we went over it last year. We are done with that. We made changes. We've moved on. Right now, it's about Wednesday's practice for Michigan State, period."
