Notre Dame forwards Tim Abromaitis and Scott Martin were named captains for this basketball season, the university announced.
Abromaitis averaged 15.4 points and 6.1 rebounds last season, and Martin averaged 9.7 points and 4.8 rebounds.
The seniors are the only returning players from last season's 27-7 team that reached the second round of the NCAA tournament.
"I'm excited that we have these two guys leading our group this season," Notre Dame head coach Mike Brey said in a statement. "They are going to be great voices in our locker room for the younger players and will help us early on in the season as we look to create our identity. They're two guys who have a tremendous work ethic and great understanding of our basketball program and what it takes for us to be successful.
"Tim was a captain for us a year ago and I am certain that he will have even greater impact this year over our group. After not playing for two seasons prior to last year, Scott really started to become an important piece of the puzzle for us and played extremely well down the stretch, especially at the Big East tournament. After all that he has gone through, our players have a tremendous amount of respect for him and how he has gone about his business here at Notre Dame."
