No one should be surprised with the announcement that Ron Howard, Walker Russell Jr. and Chris Hunter signed to play with the Mad Ants for the 2011-12 season.
After all, all three were in the house at the conclusion of last season, when the Ants barely missed out on the eighth playoff spot.
Howard was the only one who played that night. The 6-foot-5 guard had recently returned from overseas stints in Australia and Israel, and came back to play the final eight games with the Ants, averaging 11.1 points per game.
Russell was with the team earlier last year, playing in 37 games and leading the team with 17.7 points, while Hunter missed nearly all of last season with an Achilles tendon tear on Christmas night.
The return of these three give the Ants a leg up on the 2011-12 season, and all three are likely to start. More importantly, they all know how to play and think the game, which is a must in coach Joey Meyer's system.
