The euphoria around the Mad Ants office didn't last long.
A day after the Ants announced that three of their best players in the franchise's history are returning for the 2011-12 season - guards Ron Howard and Walker Russell Jr. and center Chris Hunter - the news comes out that guard Chris Kramer won't be back.
Kramer, the Huntington North and Purdue standout who was a rookie sensation with the Ants last season, tweeted that he is going to take his talents to play in Germany.
Kramer, who averaged 13.5 points, is the real deal as a player, and has the goods to get to the NBA. But apparently, the overseas money was too much to turn down.
He would have been the perfect compliment to Russell in the backcourt - a strong, physical guard who can take the ball to the rim, and also a defensive stopper, which Russell isn't.
Should Kramer get homesick, the Ants will surely find a roster spot.
