You know how sometimes, in this era of corporate prerogatives in sports, rivalries will get amped up/completely fabricated to drive up the numbers?

Well, it's good to know that sometimes people really do hate one another, no artifice added.

I mean, it's not for Yankees GM Brian Cashman that the rival Red Sox are falling apart at the seams. Now he delivers a well-placed boot to, um, a tender area by saying the Yankees fake-courted Carl Crawford to drive up the price the Sox would have to pay for him?
