Notre Dame's first-quarter performance didn't leave much to be desired as Pittsburgh leads 3-0.
The Irish were saved on their first drive thanks to some brilliant soccer flopping by punter Ben Turk to make the opening look better with 13 plays and 6:38 of the clock burned. But Notre Dame still only got 39 yards and no points.
Tommy Rees appears to be having trouble figuring out what the Panthers defense is doing, and he is trying to get the ball to Michael Floyd too much.
The offensive line is also struggling keeping Pitt's front at bay.
And of course, Notre Dame was hurt by a turnover.
Rees fumbled after getting sacked late, and the Panthers were able to get a field goal. The Irish defense deserves credit for keeping Pitt to just three points.
The offense needs to get going.
