New look for New Haven Classic

The changed the cross country course near The Plex, mainly because they had to, for Saturday's New Haven Classic.

Because of construction at near by IPFW, some dirt was unloaded on part of the old course. The new 5K course puts the start and finish lines near each other at the south end of the long straightaway used for soccer matches.

It also put some gravel on the dirt trails in the woods.

"I always liked it before," said girls 3A division winner Ashley Erba of Warsaw. "I went on a website and people were talking about the gravel. We were excited to run it coming into today, and I like it. I am looking forward to run on it again."

Erba said the Warsaw coaches came over to Fort Wayne during the week and scouted the new-look course and liked what they saw.

The course is also the same one used for the semistate next month.
